Nicholas Esposito
Counseling Intern
About Me:
Hi, I’m Nicholas Esposito. I earned my undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech majoring in Criminology with a minor in Psychology. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Northwest Nazarene University with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026.
My Approach:
My approach to counseling is grounded in the belief that people already have everything inside of them to heal. Therapy can be a space where they are supported in reconnecting with themselves and working through the effects of past experiences.
I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a trauma-informed approach that helps people better understand their thoughts, emotions and patterns shaped by past experiences. This work supports greater self-awareness, internal balance and a sense of safety allowing healing to happen at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
I also integrate hypnotherapy when appropriate as a focused, collaborative tool to support insight, emotional processing and meaningful change alongside trauma-informed and nervous system aware practices that help with regulation and grounding.
My Experience:
I am a counseling intern, military veteran and former first responder. Through my work with individuals impacted by trauma, I’ve learned that my role is not to fix or direct but to offer presence—a space where people can feel seen, heard and understood. I enjoy working with men and women navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, PTSD and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded offering support that is both compassionate and consistent.
Life in Boise:
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy staying active and connected to the outdoors. I compete in powerlifting and am currently training for a marathon while also enjoying hiking and exploring the Boise area. I believe strongly in the connection between mind, body and spirit and value practices that support balance and overall well being.
