About Me
Hi, I’m Kate. I became a counselor because I enjoy helping people better understand themselves, overcome obstacles, and create meaningful change in their lives. My background in personal training, health coaching, and nonprofit work has taught me that change becomes possible when we understand what matters to us and take intentional steps toward it.
I’m naturally curious, genuine, and optimistic, and I believe humor has an important place in therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard and understood, while also helping you discover your own answers and move toward the life you want.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy just about anything outdoors: whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, running, gardening, and exploring Idaho with my partner, TJ, and our two dogs and two cats.
My Approach
I believe therapy works best when we approach it as a collaboration. You know yourself and your life better than anyone, and my role is to help you better understand your experiences, identify patterns, recognize your strengths, and explore what you want to change.
My foundation is Adlerian therapy, and I integrate approaches and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Psychology, Strengths-Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing based on your needs.
I value curiosity without judgment, practical goal-setting, and taking what we discover in therapy into everyday life. I hope you leave our sessions feeling listened to, understood, supported, and with a new insight or perspective to consider.
My Experience
I’m currently a pre-licensed counseling intern at Humble Heart Counseling and Center for Change. Before transitioning into counseling, I spent over a decade working in the nonprofit sector and six years owning my own personal training and health coaching business. I have worked with people across the lifespan, including individuals with disabilities, neurodivergent individuals, people recovering from injuries, and professional athletes.
My experience as a personal trainer and health coach also gives me a particular interest in the connection between mental health and physical well-being. I believe that sleep, movement, stress, habits, and other aspects of wellness play an important role in how we feel and function.
Life in Boise
I’ve called Boise home for over 15 years and love the people and access to the outdoors. I’m an avid outdoor enthusiast and spend my free time exploring places like the Payette River, Bogus Basin, and the Sawtooths.
