About me:
Hi, I am Hannah McDonald. I earned my BA in psychology with a minor in nutrition from North Carolina State University. I am currently pursuing my masters in Clinical Mental Health counseling through Marshall University, with an anticipated graduation date of fall 2025.
My Approach:
My reason for counseling comes from a desire to support others in their vulnerable moments, helping them uncover their inner strength. I am informed in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). IFS helps individuals connect with and create balance among their inner “parts,” while DBT builds skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, and effective communication. I am certified in hypnotherapy and can use this approach to help clients work through deeper emotional challenges and promote relaxation.
My experience:
I am a counseling intern with experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and a Medical Assistant in psychiatry. These roles have allowed me to develop valuable insight into both behavioral and mental health treatment. I am also certified in hypnotherapy, incorporating this technique to help clients manage mental health concerns and trauma.
Life in Boise:
I moved to Boise in 2022 from North Carolina and have enjoyed all Idaho has to offer. In my free time, you can find me hiking in the foothills, at the gym or curled up on the couch with a book.
