Hannah McDonald
Licensed Professional Counselor
About me:
Hi, I’m Hannah. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho. I am passionate about all things mental health and have experience working in mental health, behavioral health, and psychiatric settings. I show up as a human first and a therapist second, creating a space where you can feel safe exploring and reconnecting with yourself.
My Approach:
My work is somatic and nervous-system informed, honoring the wisdom of both the mind and the body. I primarily use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients understand their internal world, increase self-leadership, and create lasting internal balance. I also integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, grounding, and healthier relationships. In addition, I am certified in hypnotherapy, which can offer a deeper sense of relaxation and healing.
My experience:
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marshall University and bring a trauma-informed lens to all of my work. I have completed a 70-hour Internal Family Systems (IFS) workshop and am certified in hypnotherapy, which allows me to support clients in both insight-oriented and experiential ways. Before becoming a counselor, I spent several years working in psychiatry, giving me an understanding of mental health from multiple perspectives.
Life in Boise:
I moved to Boise in 2022 from North Carolina and have enjoyed all Idaho has to offer. In my free time, you can find me hiking in the foothills, at the gym, or curled up on the couch with a book.
